Festival of Documentary Photography Fotopub, this year featuring its 13th edition, is one of the major events in the domain of documentary photography in Slovenia. During a long and hot July week Novo mesto is to strenghten it's beat exclusively for photography: many photographers, among with a team of internationally renowned workshop mentors and many visitors is about to create a unique festival atmosphere, marked by superb photographic stories, with hard work and fun, and most of all: with the acquisition of new knowledge and experiences! This year the mandate of art director is entrusted to Klavdij Sluban, Paris based photographer of Slovenian roots. Beeing established as cutting-edge photographer and author of several photo books, Klavdij Sluban has also received several eminent international photography awards.   Dear Fotopub friends,Due to fulfillment of both advanced workshops, Fotopub team invited another mentor. Alfredo D'Amato is a graduate of the Documentary Photography degree course at the University of Wales in Newport. He has mainly worked on long-term projects focusing on both western and eastern Europe, Africa and South America, with a particular interest in Portuguese speaking countries. Alfredo has had his work published in many international newspapers and magazines and has worked for many NGOs in Europe and further afield. Alfredo has won the prestigious Observer Hodge Award and received the first prize in photojournalism at the One Media awards and UNICEF Photo of the year. In 2005 he was selected for the World Press Photo Masterclass and was granted the Marco Pesaresi scholarship in Italy.
