13th Fotopub on it's way!

Festival of Documentary Photography Fotopub, this year featuring its 13th edition, is one of the major events in the domain of documentary photography in Slovenia. During a long and hot July week Novo mesto is to strenghten it's beat exclusively for photography: many photographers, among with a team of internationally renowned workshop mentors and many visitors is about to create a unique festival atmosphere, marked by superb photographic stories, with hard work and fun, and most of all: with the acquisition of new knowledge and experiences! This year the mandate of art director is entrusted to Klavdij Sluban, Paris based photographer of Slovenian roots. Beeing established as cutting-edge photographer and author of several photo books, Klavdij Sluban has also received several eminent international photography awards. Thursday award 2012 - SIMON CHANG

Thursday award 2012 goes to:Simon Chang (Slovenia) - Midva 2010 - 2028. Congratulation! Winner was selected by an international jury: Piotr Malecki (Poland), Anna Stevens (UK), Arne Hodalič (Slovenia) in Chris de Bode (Netherlans) as head of the jury. Prize of 250 € was awarded www.topsolutions.si company. Fotopub crew congratulate all of the authors that were selected for final screening.

For the theme of the 13th Fotopub art director, Klavdij Sluban has chosen Alienation. Alienation bears no doubt many faces today, while strongly marking the psychological structure of the contemporary man. Fotopub program will therefore ensure the platform for the visual exploration of interesting and intriguing stories generated by this phenomenon.

As Klavdij Sluban wrote: "Alienation is primarily the inability to feel belonging. Belonging to the other, to society, to labor and relations and, in particular, to oneself. It stands for omnipresent psychological paradigm in a world that is becoming increasingly regulated, shallow and objectified. The phenomenon of alienation was therefore chosen for the theme of this year's Fotopub: we are interested in how photography can articulate critical processes taking place in society, and how at the same time raising awareness of these can also affect them."
